Wow, isn't that sort of low for a man? That's starvation type rations.

No, I'm not being mean or snarky to you, it's genuinely worrisome. Last winter Crash and I watched the show on NatGeo about the 12 people who got dropped in Alaska and had to hike out. They were existing on just under 1000 calories per day. Their bodies started breaking down at about the 10 day mark. Twelve started out and they finished with 4.
Don't mess yourself up, you have a beautiful wife and baby to tend to. :)
