  - well, Windows can natively burn CDs, but not DVDs (I think Windows 7 fixes this). You need 3rd-party burning software to burn DVDs. - Beryllium Sep 21, 10:32

If you want to make them viewable on a DVD player, you need to use burn them as Video DVDs, not Data DVDs (which requires formatting) -- nm - oblique Sep 21, 10:22 1
