I look at it this way:

Am I annoyed when I have to wait because (possibly) other people have been squeezed in that day due to last-minute sick visits? Sure. But someday that might be me (and I'm sure it has happened in the past), so someone else will have to wait because I needed to be seen last-minute.

In the grand scheme of things, having to wait in a doctor's office is not a big deal at all. Annoying, but not something that is going to ruin my life.
