ST knows legal stuff: I'm suing someone and after the first round of depositions, they are asking for mediation. Is this good?

I have a good case and the defendent's depositions did not go well for her. Do people ask for mediation when they don't think they'll win in court?

courts always steer people to mediation, if you have a very good case then ask for arbitration which is binding, mediation is like couples counciling -- nm - zeitgeist Oct 2, 11:04

i don't know if it's good or bad. it seems to be more of a standard pre-trial thing lately (both parties have an interest in avoiding costly trials) -- nm - shamu Oct 2, 11:01
