just wanted you to be prepared to tell him "hey, i'd love to stay and talk about this but i've got an important appt that can't be missed" if he decides to call you into his office at the last minute. it happened to me once when my grama died. i told my supervisor that she was in hospice when she went in and the supervisor kept insisting on having our "one-on-one" time at the end of the day when i was trying to get to the nursing home to spend time with grama. i was forced to be blunt.
