balked at the prices for the ones I usually want. (I like how the newer ones can record HD video as well, but upwards of $600+.

Should I venture into the world of dSLR's with this camera, or should I take it back and just save up for a newer, more powerful one?

My thought: I don't understand f-stops and appetures (whatever), so I can "learn on this one" for a few years until the ones with video come down in price. But I'm also torn on thinking I should just wait a month and see what xmas specials start showing up.
