are not still be suffered those of color in this country (both from those past events and from current racism that remains). You can't just ignore those effects and decide you don't want to worry about it any more. If you believe in giving people an equal chance, you still have to address the fact that people don't start from an equal footing (in part because of all that occurred in the past).
