hmm, maybe you need to look at it this way, what ammo can be used in the most weapons. it would be easier to have one massive stockpile

of only a couple of ammo types, then have a ton of variation.
so, if say 9mm can be used in 100 different guns, then that should be a focus.
now, you will want some long range stuff, for hunting and watch towers. and the stopping power of shotguns.
