In response to "What I'm trying to understand is the statement that true technical HD is 135 Mbps -- nm" by Guigue

That's only for 720p. For 1080p, it's 237 Mbps. A Blu-ray disc can hold 35 Gb of data, but still only holds 3 hours of video.

Approximations:

How many gigabytes per hour, then? (35/3 = 11.67)
How many megabytes per minute, then? (11.67/60 = 1945)
How many megabytes per second, then? (1945/60 = 32)
How man megaBITS per second, then? (49 * 8 = 256 Mbps)
