I've been to both Morocco and Mexico City and Mexico City is far safer

What is more likely to happen in Morocco is that someone will try to convince you to go somewhere - "A Berber rug fair that happens out in the desert, only once per year, you can't miss it" and when you arrive there'll be nothing there and you'll be shouted at until you hand over your money
