I think that's a bad term as well. But I also think it underscores the ability to have an abortion for reasons other than

economic standing or unplanned pregnancy. Her's weren't 'planned,' but they weren't proactively controlled, either.
She had abortions from a fear her husband would leave her if she had a child. And to have that many, I wonder if the husband knew.
