Not really - numerous country stars have had crossover hits long before Brooks ever hit the scene.

Country was dying until the late 80's.....he basically stop on top of what Randy Travis, George Strait had done and with Alan Jackson and Travis Tritt

He was definitely a huge part of making country mainstream in the early 90s, but hardly the first to crossover. -- nm
