In response to "Why Leno on NBC is a success for NBC regardless of the ratings -- (link)" by Beaker

And going more in depth:

Castle easily wins with a 2.4 this week. Forgotten has problems, barely beating Leno with a 2.0. The bad for NBC is that Leno has a huge drop from the lead-in, 3.4 to 1.8. And that's with him having a slight bump over average. Eastwick is the big problem. It had ratings the same as Leno with 1.7, after a lead-in of 3.2. Apparently it doesn't appeal to the fans of Cougartown like I thought it might, and ABC surely hoped it would. Then on Thursday Leno was beaten handily by the 3.7 Private Practice put up. This despite the 4.5 in the key demo from the hour long Office that Leno squandered by hitting his 1.7 average. I really have a problem counting Fridays. But there, 20/20 barely beat Leno 1.5 to 1.3. Of course, that's the night they say ABC spends the same as NBC. To put that int more perspective, the night worse than Friday is Saturday. NBC has L&O:SVU pulling a 1.2 on that night.

Leno shouldn't be getting any creit for saving NBC, just for saving them some money. And with the money they put into his show, and the promotion of it, I'm confident that they are very disappointed with the current ratings. Especially after the hot start.
