Pop quiz: Is it better to transit International ---> Domestic at LAX or at SFO?

My return date may change and this may cause my routing to change from HKG-NRT-ORD to HKG-(LAX or SFO)-ORD with a transfer from Cathay Pacific to American at (LAX or SFO). (This will all depend on what my corporate travel agency says tonight)
