and we had this note on our door when we got home:

"Meter was misread. Meter reads 442, not 487"

So we only used 23K gallons for the quarter, instead of 68.

23K is still double our normal usage, but double is better than six times.

So, our water bill is 3x's what it usually is. Same quarter last year, we used 11K gallons of water. For the most recent quarter, we were billed for

*68,000 gallons* assuming that the meter wasn't read incorrectly, and given that I can't find anything that is leaking, what the hell?
