I suppose that's true. Come to think of it, I don't see why I have barracks in each of my towns.

There's a certain convenience to being able to produce troops locally rather than deploy them from a town 20 minutes away. But I can see why you don't necessarily need to build barracks or even a port if you just deploy from a neighboring town.
