quite a few months ago someone (I think it was hunting) was trying to stream video from a pc to his xbox, and had all kinds of problems

well, umm, sorry about that. here is a program that requires no setup (beyond telling it which folders the media is in).

all I did was install it, point it to the folders. then on my xbox, I went to videos, and it was there.

its a basically all java program to serve photos, music, and movies. it will also transcode on the fly to the correct format for the player (shows up as an additiona #transcode folder in the video folder).

its freaking simple really.

its called ps3mediaserver. it was originally made for the ps3, but they added in the feature needed for the xbox.
