I'm a little bit more liberal with my clam chowder preferences, though. But any gourmet soup runs the risk of becoming too close in texture to ...

... a bad bowl of butternut squash soup I had once.

I mean, the soup was fine (as in, not ex-soup), but my tastebuds did not appreciate it.
