Consider this: Jeff Francouer had 71 RBIs last year.

yeah, but that gap between 71 RBIs and 108 RBIs is important, it tells you something right there -- nm

Only when placed in that context. Otherwise, you just hear "71 RBIs" and think he was rather productive. -- nm

I think 100+ is great, 90 is productive, 80 okay, 70 is a second baseman -- nm

See TFox for context. It's true. RBI's are nice, but they're not important.

Way more important than RBI's but still pretty random.

OPS is still flawed. It's the best shorthand stat, but weighted on-base average is a better all-in-one offensive stat, imo. (nm)

tell moose that, and then tell him that players with a certain career OPS level should be in the hall of fame -- nm

How am I going to reason with Moose? Did you see the ARod nonsense last night? And now he's talking up JD Drew, for God's sake. -- nm

Nah, OPS only considers offense and isn't league-context dependent. (nm)
