If you're going to have a 'controversial' love story...you better make sure the love story is worth it.

I bought Ryan Reynolds & Sandra Bullock falling in love more than I bought Heath & Jake.
And if you're going to push a narrative about their struggles and their desire to overcome the prejudices of their love...having them actually seem like they want each other is vital.
Without the love story mattering, the movie fell apart in my eyes.
Only Ledger was good in the performers for my money
