when was blu-ray declared the winner of the format wars? are any HD DVDs still available? (did anyone here make that mistake?) -- nm

Warner Bros announced it was giving up HD Jan 4, 2008, and I put a note on my calendar Feb 19, 2008 as the end of the format war. -- nm

i still haven't got a blu-ray player. but i never buy discs, and regular dvd is fine for me. (i am SO not using my tv like it's meant to be used.)

Mop was the HD-DVD adopter here I think. HD-DVD is no longer being produced AFAIK but you may find existing inventory. Bluray won when Toshiba
