Stunt casting doesn't necessarily require common sense. HIMYM has never had great ratings without Britney, just as Earl's highest rated episode IIRC was the one that featured Paris Hilton. We've become a nation of zombies who care more about pop culture icons than plots. I wouldn't be surprised to see HIMYM get Master Chef on the show if it could barely be weaved into the plot
