mara, what do you mean by 'food agressive'?

I watched him eat in his cage before the kennel tech helped me take him for a 'test spin' outside, and he didn't seem aggressive then. Do you mean if I was to reach down near his bowl while he's eating?

The only experience with labs and food that I've seen firsthand was with my mother's old lab - who could eat an entire bowl of food in 10 seconds flat. She would literally inhale it.

I'm still not 100% sure if this dog is a good fit for us - he is a little larger than what we were looking for (not only height-wise - he is literally a solid mass of dog, very stocky) and he sheds a little more than I know Will would like. But - considering that I walked into that kennel the day he arrived and he wouldn't even look at me/anyone, wouldn't move, just sat there all depressed with the saddest eyes I've ever seen, and today he was licking my hand through the cage, I take that as a good sign. Still very shy, but generally just a sweet dog.
