I haven't found that to be the case with my indoor dogs. I've only had two, both neutered. Start him with frequent potty breaks, and give him lots of

praise for going outside. I don't believe they have a psychological need to mark everywhere, and they can understand that outside is for marking.

Also, I would advise (kare might disagree!) not to let him on any furniture for a while (a month or two). This will help him understand those objects are not his. (Actually, I still don't let my dogs on the furniture.)
