Honestly, I think it's because they can actually act and they're hot but know how to use it right. It's the same for men.

In other words, most of the women are lovely, but they use it to enhance the role, not just stand there and say "I'm beautiful, adore me". January Jones is perfect as "Grace Kelly being Betty Draper" if that makes sense. :)
There's a group of HBO/Shotime folks that are doing some of the most creative stuff on tv. If you just look at who was on Oz, The Wire, and Deadwood you could have an acting fantasy team that would kick every else's team's ass.
Mark and I have determined that Garrett Dilahunt, Jim Beaver, and Paul Ben-Victor are making tv "rounds" and improve everything they touch.
