I think their first idea of just ditching the entire cast and go with new characters on season 2 would have been the better one

They had so many built-in bobbytraps and reset buttons in Hiro, Peter, Sylar and Claire that it became a bit of a joke. It just seems they really thought about season 2 onwards when they wrote the first season, really.
