USC was rebuilding this year. They lost their top 4 (!) linebackers and are starting a pair of freshmen at QB.

I was surprised by the expectations for them just as I was surprised people thought Georgia would be as good without Stafford and Knowshon. The reality is that most college media people have no idea what they're talking about.
And watching that game was enough suffering for you. I was screaming at USC to make tackles. I can't imagine what it would have been like for a fan.
