yes, you can just buy ODST. That gets you the ODST "single-player campaign", and the Halo 3 multiplayer experience.

It does not get you the Halo 3 "single-player campaign", but that's not strictly necessary for playing with STers.
(I put single-player in quotes, because you can actually have up to four cooperative players for those story modes)
