It's a policy supported by the white house and the democrats and not by the republicans. That's not just a coincidence.

I think there is a distinction between reporting the news and creating it. And when you're organizing and leading the opposition (on these issues in particular) you are taking on a different role. Nobody says that Rush Limbaugh can't go do what he does, but nobody would suggest that is journalism either. Fox tries to straddle the line, but sometimes they go too far to be treated as a "news" network.
