There's a clear benefit.

I compiled a list of apps I needed to reinstall prior to upgrading to Windows 7, and even then I forgot a few. Going to one page, checking a bunch of boxes and clicking "GO" saved me a lot of headaches, plus nothing having to go through each install screen saved me a lot of time, too.
