7-8 years ago, you could get the complete Adobe suite for 15 bucks, our upgrade to windows XP cost less than 5 bucks. Software usually sells for the cost to produce it--in other words, you're charged a little bit for labork and a minimal amoun for the media. Hardware was more expensive, but it seens like it ended up being 20 cents on the dollar. ;)
