The vast majority of people want healthcare reformed.

There may be some disagreement on the ways and hows, but there is no arguing that people want reform.
But even if we agreed that you were right, the implication that he can support either all unpopular ideas that he agrees with, or no unpopular ideas that he agrees with fails the litmus test.
