do I rebuild it (buying a new one, setting it up, etc) or do I force my boss to hire someone (his IT consultant).
sure I can rebuild it (basic server with a 2 drive raid). but the IT guy is the one (on contract) to keep things running, check on the server, etc.
my boss wants me to do this, since the IT guy is quoting him a cost of $1500 (including the computer) while my boss thinks I can probably find a dell server on sale for $400, and then just use a weekend to build the system.
what does st think?

Make him use the IT guy. Maybe...*just* maybe, the reason your server died was because he bought shitty stuff? -- nm
