Wow. Good for them. I am surprised. Hope they can maintain the numbers. Here are my thoughts (spoils)

1) I didn't think I would care much for Morena Baccarin in the role but I like where she is taking it and I like the quick eyelid blink thing she does (like real reptiles, yes?)
2) I thought the opening of the original mini-series was better with the reported covering a battle (in Latin America) and then witnessing a ship arriving.
3) They packed a lot(!) into this episode and I wish they drew the revelation out in future eps. The mini-series, if you recall did a good job of showing scientists being skeptical, disappearing (or being killed outright), obtaining skin samples, animals flipping when visitors were near etc. Now we already know the Visitors are lizards and they have been among us for quite some time and that a main character is a lizard in opposition to the Visitor plan. Some may say that it is well known that they were lizards already but it has been 26 years since the first mini-series. I say they could have made it more of a mystery - maybe not to the viewer but to the characters.
4) Lots of debate about NYers clapping after the first Visitor communication. I am okay with this. If I saw a ship over the city that might be able to annihilate us but then saw someone who looked like us promising peace, I too would be relieved.
