I picked up the A470 recently and have been very happy with it (it's what I took my Halloween photos I posted with)

There are about a dozen shooting modes, but the auto mode is good for most things. Biggest drawbacks generally might be the lack of a viewfinder and the shutter speed is not good for action shots.
