If it wasn't for the general awesomeness of the acting and 90% of the writing, this would be really noteworthy.

they also had the problem of not being assured a 2nd season so throw it all on the screen and finish up the drama they wanted.
But with acting that honestly should merit multiple Emmy nominations, it's glossed over.
