even the 'faux drama' of Eric Taylor being fired last season was completely ludicrous given the circumstances.

A coach with 2 State title games in 3 years and almost 2 titles themselves doesn't get fired becuase a hot shot's daddy with money wants him gone. Cuz guess what, hot shot is gone in at most 3 more years.
