Yep - and to an outsider, the United States is one big amorphous blob with one type of food, one way of speaking, etc

It's only when you become more familiar with America that you realise how diverse it is.
I'm not seriously saying that Mexico = Costa Rica, but when you're choosing your next exotic destination, you think "I went to Latin America last time..."
