think back to the original V mini-series and what I feel was a more ominous tone. The old man who survived the Holocaust (actor Leonardo Cimino?) did such a good job of conveying concern and fear - for his family; for humanity in general. I miss seeing scientists try investigate/research the visitors as well.

I can't recall from the original mini-series - was the need for a mineral that Earth had in abundance a ruse? All the work they were doing in the factories was fake?
