This, and the Nugent thing on B2. The extreme right may win control of the GOP, but there won't be anything left to control.

They're going to drive out the moderates or stifle them at least to the point where the GOP is associated only with extremism. It's not particularly surprising. The extreme right is much more militant than the moderates. Pragmatic moderates such as Pawlenty and Jindal are featured by the press as the future of the GOP, but talking heads like Limbaugh and Coulter aren't going to let the party go in that direction.
Obama was able to successfully paint McCain with the extreme brush of President Bush (rightly or wrongly, McCain did eventually end up on that end of the spectrum anyway). What we've seen is that Americans aren't wanting extremely right-wing politicians. So go for it, GOP. And we'll see just how much of that socialist nirvana you so fear becomes a reality before you guys get another chance to run things.
