i really appreciate the genuine and rational enthusiasm, but there's a reason for the jokes. i listen a lot to a local talk channel where their overnight guy is a huge obama fan and has had many callers who even he has had to caution to not have such expectations.

at first, i think those expectations were desired - generating enthusiasm, etc.; but as it became clearer he was likely to win and then after, it's been obvious that there's a lot of "keep it reasonable" going on. even from obama, with his explicitly saying some things might not be done in his first term, etc.

(i said it here last week, and i'll say again: i hope people don't turn fickle. that bugs me no matter who i have supported.)
