I heard this on the news a while ago--a 30 something woman died of swine flu right here in our small hospital in our small town, yesterday.

She had a couple of other things going on, diabetes and high blood pressure, but those alone aren't likely to kill an otherwise healthy 35 year old. We've been a little epidemic hot spot for about a month, but somebody dying puts it in a different perspective. The sad thing is, the ER and the clinics have been overrun with sick folks so they aren't even testing for flu anymore, they're treating the symptions. As far as Tamiflu goes, it's not even being prescribed. Unless the first dose gets into your system between 0-48 (and some docs are using 0-36) hours it will do absolutly nothing except make you think you're feeling better. Crash and Darcy are both getting over it, it's lasted about 4-5 days for both of them and I had a something-something upper respiratory thing with laryngitis, but that's it. I had the shot like 6 weeks ago. D had it 2 weeks ago and Crash didn't have one. I have no idea if this means anything.
