As I said last week, I think it's an interesting discussion.

Peterson is the prototype running. He's got size, speed, and uncanny power. Johnson has vision and rare burst in addition to the best pure speed in the game today.
Some stats to consider:
In 2009, Peterson has 917 rushing yards from 181 carries, which is 5.07 yards per carry. He also has 11 TDs and 21 receptions for 199 yards (9.48 yards per reception).
In 2009, Johnson has 1,091 rushing yards from 170 carries, which is 6.42 yards per carry. He also has 9 TDs and 30 receptions for 262 yards (8.73 yards per reception).
So, Peterson has two more TDs and a better yards per reception average of 0.75. Johnson has 174 yards more while getting an average of 1.35 yards per carry. He's having such a remarkable season that a game of 26 carries for 132 yards actually -dropped- his yards per carry average from 6.66 to the current 6.42.
Through Peterson's first 25 NFL games, he had 2,356 yards from 444 carries (5.31 yards per carry) and 366 yards from 34 receptions (10.76 yards per reception) with 20 TDs. That's a total of 2,722 yards from scrimmage through 25 games (108.88 per game).
Through Johnson's first 25 NFL games, he has had 2,319 yards from 421 carries (5.51 yards per carry) and 522 yards from 73 receptions (7.15 yards per reception) with 19 TDs. That's a total of 2,841 yards from scrimmage through 25 games (113.64 per game).
I was surprised that the numbers are so comparable and that they generally favor Johnson.
