LenDale White had 200 carries for the Titans last year. That's only 51 more than Johnson had. Tennessee was a timeshare. Peterson has been a starter since he arrived, but he missed 2 games his rookie season. Johnson sat out the last game of last year.
In his first season, Peterson had 7 games of 100 total yards, 2 games where he went over 200, and his record breaking game where he went over 300 total yards. In his second year, Peterson had 11 games of 100 or more total yards and one game where he went over 200 total yards. This year he has 6 at 100 (1 yard away from a 7th), and was 2 yards away from 200 total yards in a game.
In his rookie year Johnson had 6 games (7 including the playoffs) of at least 100 total yards. So far this year he has 6 games of at least 100 yards, and 3 of at least 200 yards.
Now, I don't expect him to get 200 total yards once every 3 weeks. He does have a good chance at getting 100+ total yards every week, though, which is what you also expect from Peterson.
Barring any major changes, I don't know that you could make a mistake with either of them or MJD.
