i'm saying that the assumption that obese people are "at fault" or "not trying" is flawed.

because many of those people have not had to struggle with what food does to their bodies the way that very obese people do. that's all. yes, you can modify your behavior to become something closer to what society expects you to look and behave like... (although, was that not also true for homosexuals for a long long time? awful, but true.)
(i.e. you absolutely can not do anything about how your body handles food. it does what it does. you can counter act it with different behaviors. exactly the same way that a person can not choose how they react to other people sexually, though they can also choose to counter act their body's natural inclinations with choices and behaviors.)
