The shot isn't effective for about a week to ten days after administered. Also, the one with the adjuvant is designed to provoke a stronger immune

well, that's because the vaccine on its own is weak. -- nm

there is a suggestion (from Canadian data) that getting the seasonal flu vaccine makes you more likely to catch H1N1. however there is no data so far
