An ERA diff at .2 at 2.25 and 2.45 is not huge. WHIP at 1.01 & 1.05 is not huge. 144 vs 261 K's is monsterous.

Carpenter could have struck out *EVERY* hitter in the month he woulda played and still finished behind Lincecum in that category, likely about 20%.

There's an absurd difference between the 2 in that category, which as much as we don't want to admit, is the purest measure of how a pitcher pitches.

Since there's about 90% of balls in play are luck-based.
