I think it doesn't go away, though I think it might eventually be more comparable to Rocky Horror Picture Show than Star Wars.

it might be the kind of thing where people do the silly dress up thing and goof along with the film, embracing the dumbness of the whole situation.
That's hopeful me talking, though.
