People got a chance to have a second thought about it.
Transformers isn't that hard - it's a slick summer explosion fest from a director that's known for producing slick explosion fests, and the franchise it comes from had a huge amount of nostalgia going for it. Plus, before we actually saw what it was, it did actually look good.
