In response to "FWIW, I had never heard of that book but in reading the Amazon summary of it then the criticism from Publisher's Weekly, it sounds dead on. -- nm" by David

It has a lot of wisdom in it, but I think it is also too narrow in its vision. (spoils)

Basic premise: Success is all timing and opportunity. There's some recognition that the individual had to walk through the open door and put in the work to succeed, but success would be impossible without the luck of timing and opportunity. There is unquestionably truth in that. What I think it sells short is what it takes to step through the door and talent is a factor in that. While the timing and opportunity are not there for everyone, not everyone has the special talent to take advantage of the opportunity.
